Did VW Manipulate Emission Tests with “Defeat Device?”

Do you own a Volkswagen?  If you own a 2009 to 2015 VW Diesel Jetta, Beetle, Golf, or Audi A3 or a 2014 to 2015 Diesel Passat, you may have a claim against VW.

VWs are well known for being fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.  However, VW has defrauded consumers by installing inaccurate emissions sensors, which produce fake emissions test results.  The effected models were equipped with “defeat devices” that turn off emissions controls, except when the car is being emissions tested.

VW has deliberately misled consumers.  In a statement given on September 20, 2015, former VW CEO Martin Winterkorn, who has since stepped down from the supervisory board, vowed to “do everything that must be done in order to re-establish the trust that so many people have placed in [them]” and “do everything necessary in order to reverse the damage this has caused.”

Many VW models have been recalled because of these “defeat devices.” If your vehicle is repaired for this defective vehicle crash problem, it may decrease performance quality and reduce resale value.

If you or someone you know owns a Volkswagen model subject to recall, contact a Board Certified personal injury attorney about your potential claim.
