Man Killed in Hit-And-Run with Drunk Driver

According to police, the driver is being held on charges of intoxication manslaughter.

April 6, 2019 – 3:00 am: Luis Torres, 46, was killed in a crash in the Energy Corridor involving a drunk driver. Sheila Michelle Brown has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident, and is being held in Harris County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

The accident took place on Interstate 10, just west of Eldridge Parkway.

Brown was driving red Toyota Camry eastbound, hitting a blue Mazda 3. The accident forced Torres’ Mazda into a white GMC Canyon.

After that, Brown hit a tractor-trailer that had been stopped because of an earlier crash. According to police she fled the scene of the crash, but was later detained.

Police state that Torres was dead at the scene of the accident. Brown’s leg was injured in the crash and she was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. She was determined to be intoxicated while in the hospital.

There is no word on the status of the drivers of the GMC and the tractor-trailer. Brown faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter. Investigation into the accident is ongoing at the present time.
