Woman Killed in Two-Car Collision in Austin

According to news reports, Austin police have just released the identity of the woman who died in an accident with a drunk driver last Friday.

 

November 9, 2018 – 9:09 pm: The 25-year-old Yesenia Lopez-Rodriguez was killed in an accident involving an intoxicated driver. Police did not publicly release the woman’s identity until this Thursday. This is the 66th traffic death in Austin during 2018.

The accident happened near the intersection of Farm to Market Road 969 and Regency Drive on Friday night.

Lopez-Rodriguez was a passenger in a blue Honda that was headed westbound on FM 969, which crashed into a white Ford van that was trying to turn eastbound onto FM 969 from Regency Drive.

Lopez-Rodriguez was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead soon afterward. The driver of the Ford was not harmed in the crash and remained on the scene until police arrived.

The driver of the Honda, the 25-year-old Alan Torres-Yanez, has since been charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
