Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident

According to news reports, the driver responsible for the crash has been tracked down and is now in custody.

November 7, 2018 – 11:45 pm: A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident late Wednesday night in northwest Harris County. Police report that they were able to track down and apprehend the driver allegedly responsible for the crash.

The accident happened at the intersection of Louetta and Highway 249.

According to investigators from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place when a Jeep Grand Cherokee was headed westbound. It hit the motorcyclist from the rear. The unidentified motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene when first responders arrived.

The Jeep headed to a nearby gas station. Upon reaching the station, the driver of the Jeep got out of the vehicle and fled the scene. A K-9 unit from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was able to track down the driver, finding him in a shopping center on the far side of the highway.

The driver is likely to face charges of manslaughter, but the investigation into the accident is still underway. There may be more charges in store. Neither the suspect nor the victim has been publicly identified at this time.
