September 16, 2018 – 2:00 am: A woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning when her vehicle swerved off of an overpass.

According to police reports, the woman was taking the Gulf Freeway exit ramp to 610 South Loop East when she lost control of her pickup truck. She hit the concrete at the end of a guard rail, sending her vehicle over the edge of the overpass and onto the ramp below.

Once the pickup hit the ramp, it rolled over. The roof of the truck collapsed, trapping the woman inside.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they had to work to remove the woman from the vehicle. After that, they had to extricate the vehicle from where it was stuck on the metal guard rail.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was rushed to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

At this time, there is no word from the police regarding the reasons the woman might have lost control of her vehicle while crossing the overpass.
