News reports state that the two dead men were passengers in a van, while the driver of the 18-wheeler was hospitalized with injuries.
September 20, 2018 – 5:15 pm: Two men were killed and one injured when a big rig and a van collided head-on in Fort Bend County on Thursday afternoon.
The accident took place near the intersection of Highway 90 Alternate and Spencer Road. The van and the truck were traveling in opposite directions, when the van swerved into the other lane, hitting the semi truck head-on.
Both of the men in the van were killed. The driver of the 18-wheeler was injured, but was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
The identities of the three men involved in the accident have not yet been released to the public.
The area around the crash was closed for investigation for more than 12 hours after the accident, so the road wasn’t reopened until after 7:30 A.M. on Friday.
At this point, there is no official word on the reason the driver of the van swerved into the wrong lane and caused the accident. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
