Two Killed in Denton County Crash

According to news reports, the male driver and a passenger were found in an SUV that was submerged in Hickory Creek in Denton County.

 

January 9, 2019 – 7:50 am: Two people were found dead after a vehicle crashed into Hickory Creek. The accident took place sometime overnight, and police were called in shortly before 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The accident took place at the 400 block of Hickory Creek Road, where a white 2002 Volkswagen Golf was headed eastbound. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Staff Lt. Lonny Haschel, at that time “the vehicle went over an embankment and came to rest upside down in Hickory Creek.”

The two people on board were found dead inside the vehicle when police arrived. It is not known at this time whether the cause of death was drowning, injuries received in the accident, or some combination of the two.

The identities of the driver and the passenger have not been made public at this time. Authorities state that they are not certain when the accident took place. The crash is still under investigation at the present time.
