Three Killed in Wrong-Way Crash in Harris County

According to police, two victims died instantly, while the third person was taken to the hospital before dying.

March 16, 2019 – 2:00 am: A 39-year-old man headed the wrong way in a white Chevrolet Impala on Highway 249 hit a maroon Mercury Sable with two people on board. The 39-year-old man died after being taken to the hospital, while the 28-year-old man and 22-year-old woman in the Mercury were killed instantly.

The accident took place at the intersection of Highway 249 and Hollister Road. Police report that the Impala hit the Mercury on the passenger side while travelling the wrong way on the 14900 block of Highway 249.

The driver responsible for the accident showed signs of impairment, according to Sergeant Simon Cheng of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The victims of the accident have not been publicly identified at this time. News reports state that there were as many as six fatalities in wrong-way accidents in Houston last weekend. Harris County law enforcement increased their DWI patrols for St. Patrick’s Day, which they report is the third biggest drinking day of the year.

This accident is still under investigation at this time.
