One Teen Killed, Another Injured in Monday Morning Crash

According to Houston Police, the car split in two after hitting a pole that was holding up a sign.

May 13, 2019 – 3:42 am: One 18-year-old driver was killed in a crash that took place Monday morning. The accident injured the driver’s brother, who was a passenger in the car, but the passenger is expected to survive.

The accident took place on the East Freeway, near Market Street.

For unknown reasons, the 18-year-old male driver lost control of the vehicle. He hit a pole in a grassy area. The force of the impact split the Saturn in two pieces. The driver was killed in the accident, while the driver’s brother was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police are not sure why the driver lost control of the vehicle at this time, although they say they do not believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident. Speeding may have been a factor, although at this time Police do not know what the driver’s speed was at the time of the crash.

The identities of the victims have not been made public at this time. The accident is still under investigation.
