January 1, 2019

According to news reports, the driver has currently only been charged with driving while intoxicated, although further charges may follow.

January 1, 2019 – 1:30 am: An unidentified 44-year-old woman was killed in a crash that took place very early on the morning of New Year’s Day.

The other driver, Carlos Salazar-Roque, 26, has been arrested for driving while intoxicated. At this point, however, it appears that he had the right of way and will not be held at-fault for the accident.

The accident took place on the 5200 block of the North Freeway’s service road.

According to news reports, the woman was headed westbound on Burress Road. She stopped at the stop sign, but did not yield the right of way to Salazar-Roque’s vehicle.

Salazar-Roque, heading southbound on the freeway service road, hit the woman’s car. Both of them were injured and taken to the hospital. The woman died after arriving at the hospital.

Police report that Salazar-Roque was intoxicated when the crash took place. He faces charges for driving while intoxicated, but at this time appears unlikely to face further charges in connection with the accident. However, the crash is still under investigation.
