Several Injured When Man Steals Police Car

According to news reports, the suspect was in an accident with a news crew before stealing a police car and fleeing the scene.

October 15, 2018 – 4:00 am: Several members of a news crew and a police officer received injuries when a man stole a police car early Monday morning.

The incident began when the suspect crashed into a news vehicle at the intersection of Texas and Chartres. For unknown reasons, the suspect began assaulting the news crew—and two officers stopped to help the news crew.

The man began assaulting the officers, dragging one of them.

The suspect then got into the police patrol car and drove off—stopping several blocks later to let out a 16-year-old who had been arrested and was in the back seat of the vehicle.

There were several injuries in the altercation, but none of them were serious.

Houston Police report that they have been able to recover the stolen vehicle, but the suspect was not on the scene when it happened.

The suspect is reported to be a white male with glasses, estimated to be around 30 years old.

This incident is still being investigated at this time.
