Man Driving 100 mph Arrested After Being Injured in Crash

Police report the San Angelo man was hospitalized after crashing his vehicle and running away on foot.

August 20, 2018 – 11:00 am: Thomas Ray Rose, Jr., a man in San Angelo, was injured after crashing his vehicle into a support beam at the College Hills Boulevard and Loop 306 underpass this Monday.

A police officer clocked the man driving more than 100 mph on the 4400 block of the West Houston Harte Expressway a few minutes before the crash. The officer tried to pull him over but stopped pursuing when the man kept up his speed, running red lights, and crossing medians.

After crashing his vehicle into the support beam, the man fled on foot. He reached Forest Trail and Sunset Drive before the police found him. He was apprehended and arrested a few minutes later, at which time he apologized for running and asked for medical care.

He was taken to Shannon Medical Center for an evaluation. After being released, he was arrested on multiple charges, including evading arrest detention with vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

Rose was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on Monday afternoon.
