Teen Killed in Smith County Wreck

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, two other people were injured in Sunday night’s fatal crash.

May 26, 2019 – 10:15 pm: Ashley Marie Frias, 18, was killed in a crash that took place Sunday night in Smith County. Tracy Damon Anderson, 46, and a 15-year-old boy were both injured in the crash, but are currently in stable condition.

The accident took place on FM 344, about four miles east of Bullard in Smith County. Frias was headed westbound in a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe at the time of the crash. Her vehicle left the roadway, hit a guardrail, and went into the eastbound lane.

The Tahoe hit a 2012 Ford F-150 driven by Anderson. Anderson and his passenger were both injured in the accident. Frias was taken to a hospital in Tyler and pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.

The cause of the crash is unclear at this time. Police have not commented on why Frias lost control of her vehicle and went into the other lane. Investigation into the crash is still ongoing at the present time, and more information will be made available to the public as it comes to light.
