Woman Killed and Teen Seriously Injured in Semi-Truck Crash

News reports state that the accident took place at the intersection of U.S. 96 and County Road 4356.

September 11, 2018 – 5:45 pm: The 41-year-old Natibida Ramirez was killed in a crash with a semi-truck that seriously injured an unidentified 14-year-old male.

The accident took place when a 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck was driving too fast along Highway 96, hitting a 2003 Pontiac passenger car from behind. The Pontiac was sitting at the corner, waiting to turn onto County Road 4356. After the crash, the trailer overturned on the highway.

The truck’s driver, 51-year-old Derek Lampkin, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released soon afterward. The Pontiac’s driver, 38-year-old Magdiel Cruz, was not injured in the crash.

Natibida Ramirez was killed in the crash and pronounced dead on the scene when officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety arrived.

An unidentified 14-year-old male was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The accident is still under investigation. The cause of the accident is still undecided. No charges have been filed in the case, and there is no word yet regarding whether or not they will be filed.
