News reports indicate that one woman was injured in the two-car crash on southbound I-45.
August 21, 2018 – 5:00 am: A woman was injured after her car hit a wall and rolled over on the North Freeway near Cavalcade Tuesday morning.
She was going south on Interstate 45 when she swerved to avoid a car. She hit the wall and her car flipped, rolling into a small SUV from the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center in the process.
The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition after the crash, and she is expected to make a good recovery. The driver of the SUV wasn’t hurt in the accident.
The car was upside-down when first responders arrived on the scene. Traffic on the southbound North Freeway was reduced to one lane while the investigation took place.
Rollover crashes are some of the most devastating crashes that can happen on the road. Even though rollovers make up only approximately 3% of serious crashes, they account for 30% of deaths among vehicle occupants. One reason for this may be that there are no government regulations specifically involving vehicles that roll over. The closest thing is a set of laws governing the integrity of crushed vehicle roofs.
