15-Year-Old Suspect Dies After Police Chase in Farmersville

According to news reports, police were pursuing the boy after he had repeatedly hit his mother in the head with a baseball bat.

October 10, 2018 – 3:00 pm: A 15-year-old Wylie boy whose identity has not yet been made public died after a police chase on Wednesday afternoon, after reportedly beating his mother with a baseball bat.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 100 block of S. Fifth Street in Wylie, where they found the boy’s mother in the parking lot. Witnesses on the scene told police that the woman’s son had beaten her and fled the complex by car.

The police pursued the teen into Farmersville, where one of the local officers spiked one of the boy’s tires. He lost control of the vehicle and went head-on into a truck on SH 78. The teen died in the crash, but there were no other injuries.

The young man’s mother was taken to Medical City Plano, where she remained in the intensive care unit on Wednesday night. She is a 40-year-old woman, and she sustained multiple wounds to the head.

Neither the woman nor her son has been publicly identified at this time.
