Police Chase Ends in a Crash with Minor Injuries

According to police reports, the case began when an officer in street clothes witnessed a jugging in process and called for backup.

December 28, 2018 – 10:00 am: An elderly couple was injured after a car crashed into their vehicle on Friday morning. The accident took place while the man in the other vehicle was fleeing police on account of a jugging. (“Jugging” is a term used for when a criminal follows you from an ATM to another location to either break into your car to get the money, or to rob you for it.)

The crash took place near the intersection of South Gessner Road and West Bellfort Avenue. This was a few blocks away from the location where the chase began after an officer in street clothes reported a jugging in process.

The man hit a car in an intersection a few blocks from the place where the chase started, causing minor injuries to an unidentified couple in the vehicle. According to Lt. Carlos Miller of the Houston Police Department, “He went through the intersection and crashed with the other vehicle. There were elderly people (in the other vehicle) who are going to be OK.”

The suspect was arrested and will face charges for evading police and burglary of a motor vehicle. The elderly couple is currently in the hospital for minor injuries. The accident is under investigation at this time.
