Driver Injured While Fleeing Police near Alief

Houston police report that the driver was being pulled over for traffic violations on Wilcrest, but fled police instead of stopping.

August 31, 2018 – 12:15 am: A driver was injured after crashing into a pole while fleeing police near Alief early on Friday morning.

An officer from the Houston Police Department tried to stop the driver for a traffic violation before the accident occurred. For as yet unknown reasons, the driver decided to flee police and attempt to get away.

Only a few blocks from the location where the police attempted to pull the driver over, the individual crashed into a pole near the corner of Bexley and Wilcrest. The crash did serious damage to the front end of the vehicle.

The driver was taken to the hospital at that time and is now listed as being in serious but stable condition. The individual was also taken into custody for fleeing the police rather than pulling over as instructed.

The incident is still under investigation, and it is unclear at the moment why the driver chose to flee when the police attempted to pull the vehicle over. The reasons for the driver’s loss of control are also unknown at this time.
