Pedestrian Killed on Highway 155 South

According to preliminary reports, the man killed in the accident was pronounced dead on the scene, where he was hit while attempting to remove debris from the roadway.

 

November 11, 2018 – 8:00 pm: The 65-year-old Michael Timothy McClure, of Palestine, was killed in an accident while walking on the highway on Sunday evening. Investigators believe that he may have been trying to clear debris from the roadway when he was struck.

The accident took place on Hwy-155 S., near FM-2661 in Smith County.

Aaron-Nicole Rodriguez, 32, of Frankston, was driving along Highway 155 in a 2012 Nissan Versa when she struck McClure. It is not immediately clear why Rodriguez hit the man.

Police arrived on the scene shortly afterward. Judge Alfred pronounced McClure dead on the scene of the accident, and McClure’s body was taken to Rhone Funeral Home in Palestine.

Rodriguez was not injured in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation at this time. Investigators are still not certain why McClure was in the roadway, or why Rodriguez was unable to avoid hitting him. As of 1:37 P.M. on November 12, there is no official word on whether any charges will be filed in this case.
