One Killed in Hit and Run Crash

According to Houston Police, they detained a driver in connection with the crash, and the driver remains a person of interest in the case.

May 19, 2019 – 10:30 pm: A man was killed in a crash that took place on Sunday night in north Houston. Police temporarily detained a driver in connection with the crash. The man has since been released, but police state that he remains a person of interest in the case.

The accident occurred on the North Freeway near Mt. Houston.

Police are not sure about the circumstances leading up to the crash, however video footage of the scene shows a vehicle speeding through a red light and hitting a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the street. When police arrived on the scene they found a man lying in the road after being struck by a vehicle. The man was taken to a hospital and died shortly afterward.

A tow truck driver witnessed the crash and followed the driver as he attempted to flee from the accident to a home in the Imperial Valley. The tow truck driver led police to the driver, who was detained and questioned.

The cause of the crash is unclear at this time. The driver may face charges of failure to stop and render aid if the police confirm he was the one who fled the scene. Investigators are also looking into possible impairment of the driver at the time of the crash.
