According to news reports, the Texas Department of Public safety waited until Tuesday to release the identity of the man who was killed in Saturday’s crash.
November 10, 2018 – 6:58 pm: The 38-year-old Micah Piemmons was killed in a head-on collision on Saturday evening.
The crash took place on State Highway 349, about one mile east of Midland. Piemmons was driving westbound on SH 349 in a 2010 Mazda CX7, while Ernesto Fiero, 38, was driving eastbound in a 2017 Dodge Ram.
Piemmons’ vehicle did not have its headlights on at the time of the crash. Fiero tried to pass a truck in front of him, did not see the Mazda, and the two vehicles collided head-on in the westbound lane.
Piemmons was pronounced dead at the scene. The Texas Department of Public Safety did not release his identity until Tuesday.
Both vehicles had one passenger on board in addition to the driver. Lorenzo Abanilla, 42, was a passenger in the Mazda. Joselyn Fiero, 12, was in the Ram. Abanilla, Ernesto Fiero, and Joselyn Fiero were all taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with what are reportedly non-incapacitating injuries.
The accident is still being investigated at this time.
