Odessa Man Killed While Crossing Street

According to reports, the man’s identity is still being held pending notification of his next of kin.

May 17, 2019 – 10:24 pm: A 60-year-old man was killed while crossing the street in Odessa, Texas on Friday night. The driver of the Jeep Liberty that hit him was 48-year-old Jose Manuel Sanchez, of Houston.
The accident took place on the 800 block of West University Avenue in northwest Odessa.

The man was trying to run south across University when he was hit by the Jeep Liberty. He was taken to Medical Center Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue were on the scene shortly after the accident. The man’s identity is currently being held, but is expected to be released as soon as his next of kin is informed of his passing.

There is no information available on the cause of the accident at this time. It is unclear whether Sanchez was at fault in the crash, or if he could have avoided hitting the victim in any way.

The Odessa Police are still investigating the accident, and more information will be made available as it comes to light.
