According to the police, the motorcyclist was riding alongside another motorcycle when he hit a car at a high rate of speed and was killed.
October 13, 2018 – 11:45 pm: An as-yet unidentified 61-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the East Loop in Houston late Saturday night.
The accident took place on the 100 block of East Loop South, where the dead motorcyclist and one other motorcycle passed a beige BMW at a high rate of speed.
One of the motorcyclists, riding a black Harley Davidson, hit the back of the BMW, and when police arrived, he was pronounced dead on the scene. The other motorcyclist, riding a yellow Buell motorcycle, crashed his bike after the other man hit the BMW.
The motorcyclist on the Buell was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries, while the driver of the BMW was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time, although police on the scene say they are not sure if the motorcyclists were racing. Because the two motorcyclists were driving at a high rate of speed, racing appears to be a distinct possibility in the case.
The accident is still under investigation at this time.
