The family of the deceased report that the pair had just gotten a new home in Houston and were traveling to visit family in Crowley.
August 19, 2018 – 12:09 am: The victims were identified as Vincent Jenkins (31) and Rhonda Jenkins (57) of Houston. They were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Police have not released any details on the crash, although they report that there was another vehicle involved in the accident. Cause of death has not been established for either of the victims, and autopsies have been scheduled to determine the cause.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 35W were closed for more than five hours in the aftermath of the accident, during which time the police investigated the cause of the crash.
Susan Jenkins, a relative of the deceased, said on Sunday, “They had just gotten a new house in Houston and they were just coming here to visit for a few days.”
A funeral has been scheduled for the deceased, who are grieved by their family members.
