Midland Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash

According to news reports, one driver was killed and another injured in a crash that took place on Tuesday morning.

September 18, 2018 – 5:30 am: 22-year-old Kevin L. Garcia of Midland, Texas was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning.

The accident took place on State Highway 158, about 12 miles east of Midland. Garcia was driving his Ford F-150 pickup truck westbound on S.H. 158, and an unidentified 47-year-old Midland man was driving eastbound in a Peterbilt big rig.

The F-150 drifted into the eastbound lane, hitting the Peterbilt big rig head-on. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Garcia died on the scene. The truck driver was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, the police have not said what caused the F-150 to swerve into the oncoming big rig.

Kevin L. Garcia is the fourth person to die in a Midland County crash in September, and the 32nd person to die that way in 2018. This was the fifth fatal crash on State Highway 158 in 2018.

Even though the accident took place on Tuesday, the release from the Texas Department of Public Safety was not made public until Friday, September 21.
