According to recent reports, the man received second and third-degree burns, but is expected to survive his injuries.
May 13, 2019 – 7:00 pm: A man in southwest Houston was saved from his burning home when his neighbors came and took him out of the burning building before firefighters could arrive on the scene. The man received serious burns, but is expected to survive.
The fire broke out Monday evening on Terrance Street in the southwest end of Houston. Neighbors broke into the house as flames were coming out of the windows, finding the man just inside the front door.
The Fire Department arrived on the scene shortly after the man was taken out of the house. They were able to bring the fire under control, cutting holes in the roof for ventilation.
The cause of the fire is unclear at this time. Brett Buffington of KHOU news announced in a tweet that, “Arson investigators are here trying to figure out how this fire started.”
The man who was rescued has not been publicly identified at this time. The fire is still under investigation, and the arson team has not made any statements concerning the cause of the flames.
