Man Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident

According to news reports, the man is listed as being in serious but stable condition after Saturday’s accident.

 

January 5, 2019 – 7:00 pm: A 40-year-old man was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident that took place in Pinehurst on Saturday evening. The man was identified as Jonathan Sibley.

The accident took place on the 3100 block of West Park in Pinehurst.

According to witnesses, Sibley was hit by an unidentified black male driving a black Cadillac. The driver initially stopped long enough to move Sibley out of the roadway but left the scene before police arrived.

A witness photographed the license plate of the Cadillac, and police have since tracked down the car and seized it at an address on the 3700 block of Hemlock. The driver was not present when the vehicle was seized.

Pinehurst Police Chief Fred R. Hanauer III reports that the driver has reached out to police and is cooperating with their investigation. The driver faces pending charges for Failure to Stop and Render Aid.

Sibley’s condition is listed as serious but stable, according to the hospital where he is receiving treatment. The investigation into this accident is still ongoing at this time.
