According to Police, drugs, alcohol or speed may have played a role in the single-vehicle accident.

May 12, 2019 – 11:30 pm: An unidentified woman was killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash that took place in north Houston on Sunday night. It appears that she lost control of her Mercedes SUV, hitting a pole and causing her vehicle to catch fire.

The accident took place on Fulton Street, where the Mercedes was headed northbound near the intersection with Patton Street.

Police report that the woman hit a METRORail column. When police arrived on the scene, the woman’s leg was stuck in the door and the vehicle was burning. The woman was unconscious and was not breathing at the time.

A pair of tow truck drivers appeared on the scene and put out the flames before firefighters arrived. One of them said, “It’s one of those things where your natural instincts kick in and you just want to save somebody.”

Unfortunately, their efforts were not enough and the woman was later pronounced dead on the scene of the crash. Police are still investigating the crash at this time, and they believe drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
