One Man Killed on Gulf Freeway

According to the Houston Police Department, the man drove off of the roadway and hit a light pole.

May 20, 2019 – 10:40 pm: An unidentified 27-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle accident that took place in Harris County on Monday night. No one else was in the vehicle with him, and no one else was harmed in the crash.

The accident took place at 7000 Gulf Freeway on Monday night, where he was driving a green Honda Accord southbound at the time of the crash.

According to Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer R. Romo of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, the driver left the roadway and hit a light pole that was laying on the ground. He did not survive the accident.

A witness on the scene reports that the driver was weaving in and out of the lanes before losing control and driving off of the road. The driver’s identity is still pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing. Police have not commented on the likely cause of the accident. More information will be made available to the public as it comes to light.
