Four Injured When Police Chase Ends in Four-Vehicle Crash

According to news reports, one woman involved in the crash was ejected from her vehicle and severely injured.

October 21, 2018 – 10:08 pm: Four people were injured, including a young woman who was ejected from her car, when a police chase ended in a four-car collision Saturday night.

The accident happened on Chartes Street, just south of Texas Street, after a five-minute chase that began near the intersection of York Street and Harrisburg Boulevard.

The driver of a white SUV was fleeing police at high speeds when the driver hit the back end of a Honda Civic, forcing the Civic into another car. The SUV’s driver backed up, hit another car, and collided with an 18-wheeler. The driver was finally stopped and arrested at the intersection of Texas Street and Bastrop Street.

The original impact ejected the woman in the Honda Civic from her vehicle. She was seriously injured and was hospitalized with three others who were injured in the crash.

The driver of the SUV has been charged with evading police and driving while intoxicated. Charges for vehicular assault and failure to stop and render aid are pending.

The accident is still being investigated at this time.
