Forklift Kills 63-Year-Old Construction Worker in the Heights

A 63-year-old man was killed when he was run over by a forklift at a construction site in the Heights.

July 27, 2018 – 7:07 am: This tragic work injury happened at 598 West 24th Street near Lawrence. A construction worker was struck and killed by a forklift at a construction site. (It is the site of a new H-E-B grocery store.)

The man driving the forklift did not see the construction worker. He struck the man pinning him between the front and rear tires of the forklift.

The victim was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the forklift and the victim were longtime friends as well as coworkers. The forklift driver’s son stated that his father is devastated by the accident.

The incident is still under investigation by the Houston Police Department. No charges are expected to be filed.
