Pedestrian Killed on Eastex Freeway in Humble

According to news reports, the accident happened early Wednesday morning as the victim was walking within the lanes of the highway.

October 24, 2018 – 1:30 am: A man was killed early Wednesday morning when a Ford Mustang hit him while he was walking along the right lane of the highway in Humble.

The accident happened on the right lane of Highway 59, near Townsen.

The Mustang had just entered the highway when it hit the man. According to Sgt. Jack Burt of the Humble Police Department, the Mustang’s driver did not see the man in time to avoid hitting him.

The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident. The Mustang’s driver was not injured, but a passenger in the front seat was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver remained at the scene of the accident, waiting for police to arrive and conduct their assessment of the accident.

According to Houston TranStar, outbound main lanes of the Eastex Freeway were still shut down as of 5:59 A.M. on October 24.

None of those involved in the accident has been publicly identified, and the accident is still currently under investigation.
