Three Die in East Texas Crash on Monday Morning

According to police, the accident occurred when a driver ran into the back end of a legally parked semi truck just outside Lindale.

October 15, 2018 – 4:30 am: A 36-year-old woman and two 16-year-old girls are dead after crashing into the rear end of a semi truck outside Lindale, Texas on Monday night. The driver of the semi truck was not injured in the crash.

The accident took place on Interstate 20, near U.S. Highway 69 and Jim Hogg Road, east of Lindale.

Chelsey Brewer, the driver of a Jeep Renegade, drifted onto the shoulder of the highway and ran into the semi that was legally parked by the side of the road. Brewer and her two female passengers were killed in the impact.

Joseph Allen Bettis, the 31-year-old driver of the semi, was asleep in the truck’s sleeper cab at the time of the accident. He was not injured in the crash.

Brewer was transported to UT Health-Tyler, where she was later pronounced dead. The two female passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident is not known at this time. Driver fatigue tends to be a major factor in accidents in the very early morning.

The crash is still under investigation.
