Driver Injured after Rear-Ending 18-Wheeler

According to news reports, the driver has been issued a citation for failure to control speed.

February 19, 2019 – 1:30 pm: The 26-year-old Leonard McGee was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries after a crash in which his pickup truck rear-ended an 18-wheeler in Shelby County on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash took place on Highway 59 in Shelby County, near County Road 2624. McGee’s 2016 GMC pickup was headed southbound behind a 2018 Freightliner truck at the time of the crash.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, “The driver of the GMC pickup failed to control his speed and rear-ended the 18-wheeler.”

McGee was taken to a hospital in Nacogdoches for treatment of undisclosed injuries, and has reportedly been issued a citation for failure to control speed. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt in the accident.

No one else was harmed in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident. It is unclear whether wet road conditions were a contributing factor in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation as of the present time. Police will release further information as it becomes available.
