May 24, 2019

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, alcohol appears likely to have been a factor in the crash.

May 22, 2019 – 12:35 am: Yvette Laake-Gonzalez, 41, was killed in an accident that took place shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning.

The accident took place in Live Oak County, about three miles north of Mathis on Interstate 35.

Laake-Gonzalez was headed northbound on I-35 in her 2003 Chevy Tahoe when she failed to travel in a single lane and went off the roadway.

The Tahoe rolled several times. Laake-Gonzalez, who was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to Northwest Regional Hospital in Corpus Christi, where she was later pronounced dead of her injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no one else was injured in the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has not made any definitive statements on the cause of the accident, but their statement suggests that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. They are still
investigating the accident at the present time, and more information will be made available as it comes to light.
