One Dead, Two Injured in San Antonio Apartment Fire

News reports say that firefighters were unable to reach the woman, who lived on the second floor of the building that caught fire.

August 20, 2018 – 10:00 pm: One of the buildings in the Ashler Oaks apartment complex, on the 4100 block of Parkdale Street in San Antonio, caught fire late Monday night. Rescue crews were unable to save one woman, who died in the blaze.

The 12-unit apartment complex caught fire around 10 PM. Authorities aren’t yet sure of what caused the fire or whether foul play was involved in the incident.

Charles Hood, San Antonio Fire Chief, reports that the fire department received multiple calls about the fire, starting around 10:09 PM Monday night. Firefighting crews immediately started removing people from the building.

Two others were hospitalized after the accident. One individual was hurt while jumping out of the building, receiving serious injuries in the process. The other experienced minor cuts and burns.

Four of the apartment building’s units were destroyed in the fire, which displaced eight adults and two children.

The cause of the blaze is still unknown at this time, although Fire Chief Hood reports that the arson team is investigating.
