Authorities report that the car hit a concrete pillar near the entrance of Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport.
August 17, 2018 – 6:00 am: The driver of a car hit a column at the entrance of Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport, near Airport Road on Friday morning.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident, which took place around 6:00 a.m. No other vehicles were involved, although the driver died in the crash and Montgomery County Police arrived on the scene.
Airport Parkway was closed from Airport Road to FM 3083 for a few hours after the accident took place. Montgomery County Police have not commented on the cause of the accident at this time, nor have they released the identity of the driver.

According to the Department of Transportation, there were a total of 34,439 fatal crashes nationwide in 2016, causing 37,461 road deaths.
