13-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in El Paso

According to news reports, a nurse was soon on the scene after the 13-year-old girl was struck by a pickup truck in a hit-and-run accident.

September 7, 2018 – 5:20 pm: An unidentified girl was struck and killed by a pickup truck while headed home from school on Friday afternoon.

The accident took place on the 5500 block of Montoya Drive in West El Paso. According to witnesses, the pickup that hit her was dark or silver in color, and likely to be driven by a man.

The victim was hospitalized with her injuries and died in the night.

Orestes Moldes was on the scene of the accident. He is a nurse who used to work with children in an El Paso hospital. Moldes and a woman on the scene tried to stop the bleeding with a medical kit.”

Moldes said, “She had some gauze and a dressing kit. We just kind of put pressure.”

The pickup truck’s driver is still wanted by police, and the victim’s family is doing all they can in the search. The girl’s uncle shared social media posts directed at the driver, saying, “You need to understand, what you did was cowardly. It was probably the most unhuman act you could have possibly [done].”
