Worker Rescued from Trench in Water Treatment Plant Friday Afternoon

According to news reports, the man received minor injuries after falling about 15 feet while climbing down into the trench.

November 30, 2018 – 2:00 pm: A 60-year-old worker fell into a trench at a Houston water treatment plant on Friday afternoon. He was successfully removed from the trench and taken to the hospital in stable condition about 45 minutes later.

The incident took place in north Harris County, at a water treatment plant at 13101 Stonefield Street.

According to officials on the scene, the unidentified man was climbing down a ladder into the trench when he slipped and fell the last 15 feet. The Sky 2 helicopter was able to capture footage of the man giving a thumbs-up to show that he was in good condition.

Firefighters from the Little York Fire Department were on the scene when the incident took place. They stabilized the trench before lowering some rescue workers to help the man.

The man was taken to the hospital in stable condition. No other information on his identity or injuries is available at this time. The cause of the fall is unknown at this time, and the incident is currently under investigation.
