Two Killed in Gray County Crash

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a third person received life-threatening injuries in the accident.

May 6, 2019 – 1:00 am: Jacob Frogge, 18, and Fungisai Banda, 33, were killed in a crash that took place early on Monday morning. Collin Lovelace, 18, received life-threatening injuries in the accident, while a 2-year-old boy was hospitalized in stable condition.

The accident took place on Interstate 40 in Gray County, where one of the vehicles drifted into the wrong lane and hit the other head-on.

The vehicle carrying Frogge and Lovelace was in the wrong lane, hitting Banda’s vehicle head-on. An 18-wheeler hit Banda’s car on the driver’s side immediately after the wreck.

Frogge and Banda were both pronounced dead on the scene of the accident. Lovelace was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital in critical condition, while the 2-year-old was taken to Pampa Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the accident.

According to the report from the Texas Department of Public safety, the road was wet and there was fog in the area at the time of the accident. The cause of the crash is still unclear, and investigation is ongoing.
