Two Injured in Training Jet Crash

According to a press release from Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas, the two pilots ejected safely from the T-45C Goshawk training jet.

May 10, 2019 – 2:30 pm: Two military pilots experienced minor injuries in a crash involving a T-45C Goshawk aircraft on Friday afternoon. This craft is the main training plane for pilots in the Navy and Marine Corps. The accident is under investigation, but at this point the military is attributing the crash to pilot error.

The accident took place at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas. According to a press release from the military, “The pilots safely ejected from the aircraft just before it crashed just short of the runway inside the airfield perimeter fence.”

The Naval Safety Center has classified the crash as a “Class A” mishap, meaning the accident caused at least $2 million in damage.

The identities of the pilots have not been made public at this time, aside from the fact that one was a Navy flight instructor and the other was a student. The cause of the crash has been attributed to pilot error, although the Navy has not released any information about the circumstances leading up to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation at the present time.
