Major Crash on the South Houston Tollway Injures Trucker

According to news reports, at least two other cars were involved in the crash.

October 22, 2018 – 3:45 pm: One person was seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident in which a commercial vehicle was flipped on its side Monday afternoon.

The accident happened on Beltway 8, near Almeda.

A heavy commercial truck hit the barrier on the Sam Houston Tollway, flipping on its side and catching fire in the process. There was extensive damage to the truck, including at least one axle and both wheels attached to it flying off the truck and onto the tollway.

According to Houston Transtar, at least two other cars were involved in the accident, although the drivers were not injured.

The crash blocked traffic in the Almeda area for several hours, both because of clearing and investigation by the police.

The identity of the driver injured in the crash has not been released yet, and investigators still do not know why the driver lost control of the vehicle. The other drivers involved in the accident have also not been identified at this time.

Investigation into the causes of this accident is still ongoing at this time.
