According to news reports, road rage may have been a factor leading up to the accident.
October 22, 2018 – 2:30 am: One man is dead and six people are injured after an accident that appears to have been the result of road rage early Monday morning. The driver of one of the vehicles, 22-year-old Luis Gaspar, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter as a consequence.
The accident took place at the intersection of the I-45 feeder and Airline in north Houston.
According to police, Luis Gaspar had gotten into an argument with the driver of a Chrysler while the two of them were at a club.
The driver of the Chrysler left the scene, where he later hit a van carrying four construction workers to their workplace. Gaspar had been following the Chrysler closely, and when the accident took place, he also hit the van carrying the construction workers.
One of the passengers in the van was killed in the accident. Six people were injured and hospitalized after the crash.
Gaspar has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after the crash. Police have not said whether the driver of the Chrysler was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The crash is still under investigation.
