October 23, 2018 – 3:00 pm: A shuttle bus full of contract workers overturned and rolled down a highway embankment on Tuesday afternoon, leading to one death and 30 injuries.

The accident took place on Highway 36, in the outskirts of Freeport, about 50 miles south of Houston.

The bus was transporting a group of Zachry Construction contractors to a parking lot where their vehicles were parked when the driver lost control. The vehicle began to fishtail, eventually flipping several times before coming to rest at the bottom of an embankment. The front of the bus slipped into a canal.

Aaron Green, 29, of Dayton, was killed in the crash. 30 others were hurt in the crash, although Green was the only fatality.

When first responders arrived on the scene, passers-by were already helping workers out of the bus.

The accident is still under investigation at this time.
