Two Separate Crashes Seriously Injure Houston Pedestrians

August 31, 2018

According to news reports, the two accidents occurred within 15 minutes of each other, both leaving the affected pedestrians in critical condition.

August 31, 2018 – 12:15 am: One woman was critically injured on North Sam Houston Parkway near Greenspoint drive early Friday morning when a pickup truck hit her as she was crossing the feeder road.

The woman driving the pickup truck may have run a red light, and she was determined to be intoxicated at the time of the accident. Police took the driver into custody, and the pedestrian was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Another crash took place at 12:30 A.M. on Veterans Memorial at Blackpool. A man was seriously injured when a vehicle hit him and left the scene. The pedestrian, who was standing in the roadway at the time of the accident, was hospitalized in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle in the second accident has not yet been identified.

The investigation into the causes of both these accidents is still ongoing. Pedestrians are much more likely to be seriously injured in accidents than vehicle passengers, because of the lack of protection and safety measures in place to keep them from harm.
