Pedestrian Struck and Killed While Crossing East Freeway Service Road

According to news reports, the man was struck by a Waste Corrections truck and pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann hospital.

 

January 17, 2019 – 7:50 am: An unidentified man was killed while crossing a service road in Jacinto City on Thursday morning. The man was carrying a bag of ice he’d just picked up from a Shell convenience store on Mercury.

He was struck while walking along Mercury, crossing at the intersection with the Interstate 10 service road.

According to Jacinto City Police Department Lt. Mark A. Longrigg, it appears that the man had a red light when he started crossing the street, but the light changed before he got to the other side. A Waste Connections truck hit him while he was crossing the street. The man was taken to Memorial Hermann hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after his arrival.

The man’s identity has not been made available to the public at this time. There is no comment available on whether the driver of the truck will face charges as a result of the accident. The driver’s identity is also unavailable at this time.

Jacinto City Police are still investigating the accident.
