The accident took place near Northwest Highway in Dallas, between a Texas Department of Public Safety patrol car and a silver Toyota Camry. Both vehicles were headed northbound on the tollway at the time of the accident.
According to Lonny Haschel, a spokesman for DPS, the driver of the Camry lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete barrier before striking the patrol car. Both the driver and the officer were taken to Parkland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Some of the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway were closed for several hours along the stretch from Lovers Lane to Northwest Highway while investigators worked the scene.
Neither the identity of the driver nor that of the state trooper has been made public at this time.
The accident is still under investigation. It remains unclear what caused the driver of the Camry to lose control of the vehicle, leading to the accident.
