The accident took place near Northwest Highway in Dallas, between a Texas Department of Public Safety patrol car and a silver Toyota Camry. Both vehicles were headed northbound on the tollway at the time of the accident.

According to Lonny Haschel, a spokesman for DPS, the driver of the Camry lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete barrier before striking the patrol car. Both the driver and the officer were taken to Parkland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
