One Killed and at Least Two Injured in Truck Crash

According to news reports, the Polk County crash took place when a pickup truck hit an 18-wheeler from behind.

 

January 21, 2019 – 3:30 pm: One unidentified man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that took place on Monday afternoon in Polk County. Uriel Gonzalez, 30, and Hope Williams, 54, were both hospitalized with injuries sustained in the crash.

The accident took place in Polk County, on US 59 near FM 62. Edward Johnson, 56, was driving a 2008 Dodge pickup northbound on US 59 when he hit Gonzalez’s semi-truck from behind.

Johnson’s pickup had two passengers on board: Hope Williams, who was airlifted to the hospital, and 48-year-old Etta Skinner. Johnson was not injured in the crash, and DPS does not report on whether Skinner was hurt or not.

Gonzalez’s semi-truck had one passenger onboard. Gonzalez was hospitalized, but his passenger was not hurt.

News reports state that a Chicago man was killed in the accident, but this man’s identity is not available at this time.

Police are uncertain about the cause of the accident at this time. No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, and police have not commented on whether criminal charges are likely. The crash is still under investigation.
