One Killed, Two Injured in Crash Involving Ambulance

According to news reports, the driver of the truck that hit the ambulance was killed in the crash.

 

February 10, 2019 – 3:15 am: Two paramedics were injured and a driver was killed on Sunday morning when Luis Cabrera, 28, crashed his truck into an ambulance. Cabrera was taken to the hospital and died shortly after his arrival.

The crash took place in at the intersection of West Davis Street and North Westmoreland Street in Dallas, where a Dallas Fire Rescue ambulance was responding to a call. Cabrera’s truck ran through a red light and hit the passenger side of the ambulance.

The ambulance’s lights and sirens were both running at the time of the crash, and police report that the ambulance had the green light when it entered the intersection. Cabrera was reportedly speeding when the accident occurred.

Both paramedics were taken to the hospital after the crash. One of them was released on Sunday afternoon, while the other remains in the hospital with more serious injuries. Neither of the paramedics have been identified publicly at this time, and there is no report of the condition of the paramedic who remains in the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation at this time.
