Motorcyclist Killed in Grimes County Crash

According to police, the motorcyclist was trying to make a U-turn and went into the path of an oncoming truck at the time of the accident.

April 10, 2019 – 5:30 pm: A motorcyclist was killed in a crash that took place on Wednesday afternoon in Grimes County. The man was identified as 65-year-old Nathan Monk.
The accident took place on near Carlos on Highway 30, just west of FM 244.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the motorcyclist was attempting to make a U-turn at the time of the crash. He had been heading westbound on Highway 30, and in making the U-turn he turned into the path of a semi-truck.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the accident. Police had to shut down the highway for three hours, at which time the investigation and cleanup of the scene took place. The site of the accident has been reopened for normal traffic since then, however.

At this time it is unclear why Monk made the U-turn in front of the semi-truck. The cause of the crash is still being investigated at the present time.
